Proudly Serving Prince Albert & the surrounding area since 1970s

Since opening our doors in 1970, Econo Lumber has grown alongside our community. Through five expansions and two new locations, we’ve become a leading supplier for Northern Saskatchewan—without losing our local roots

The '90s

Econo Grows & Adds New Management

Econo Lumber continued to grow and prosper through the ’90s. We built a new store right over our old building, expanding our floorspace an additional 8,650 sq. ft. We expanded our serviceable yard, added an additional 8,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, expanded our delivery fleet and added a couple dozen new staff!

2000s

Expansion & Growth

30,000 sq. ft. drive-thru warehouse

Econo Lumber saw rapid expansion in the new millennium. We added our 30,000 sq. ft. drive-thru warehouse in 2005 – the first of its kind in Saskatchewan. Our drive-thru warehouse ensures our building materials are dry and protected from the weather to guarantee the highest quality. Our customers can load their products, safe from the elements, year round.

Our warehouse includes the revolutionary Auto-Stac system, allowing our staff to access and stock products rapidly and safely! It’s the largest in Western Canada and has been featured in a number of contractor magazines in Canada and the USA.

In 2000, Econo was a major contributor to the fundraising for the E A Rawlinson Centre for the Arts, which awarded Vic the Samuel McLeod “Legacy” Award in 2002. In 2016, Vic won the Western Retail Lumber Association’s (WRLA) Industry Achievement Award for contributing to his business, the building supply industry, the WRLA and their community.

2020

50th Anniversary

In 2020, Econo Lumber celebrated their 50th Anniversary and three generations of community commitment. Today, Vic Lemieux’s son, Curtis, and his grandson, Cody, run the thriving business. Econo Lumber continues to be a major player in the Prince Albert economic scene and a major contributor to many great causes.

2025

Expansion & Growth

We added an 14,000-sq.-ft. innovative space that offers customers the opportunity to explore an extensive range of products for both renovations and new home builds.
